Convincing a store robbery leads to the arrest of a man wanted by police in Mississauga and Brampton

A robbery attempt in Markham has led to charges and the arrest of a man wanted by police in Mississauga and Brampton.


The incident happened on Nov. 21 around 5:30 p.m. when York Regional Police said a man entered a convenience store near Bur Oak Avenue and 16th Avenue in Markham.


The man attacked an employee and tried to steal several items from the store, but police say the robbery was unsuccessful.


The worker suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital while the attacker escaped on foot.


The next day, police said, they identified and arrested a suspect who was subsequently charged with multiple crimes, including assaulting a peace officer.


The man was also wanted by Peel Regional Police in connection with ‘unrelated offences’.


York Police say De’Angelo Jerome Howe, 32, of no fixed address, has been charged with theft, failing to comply with a probation order and assaulting a peace officer.
